Clinch River Trout Fishing Handy Suggestions

Fishing in an uncharted territory is extremely challenging.  I know you will agree with that.  So if you are looking for fishing tips for the Clinch River, then you came to the right place.  I’m interested in going there myself so I collected tips from friends and fellow anglers who are familiar with the clinch river.  Here’s what they have to say:

  • You can either go wade-fishing or use boats to fish.  The Clinch River is very large so there are ample places to fish for both.
  • There are boat ramps in public access points of the river.  From those points, you can launch your boats to proceed to your fishing areas.
  • The most preferred way to fish in this river is by using live bait.  It is said to be really effective on the Clinch.
  • It is easy to fish when the water is low.  It is also when the water is low that dry-fly fishing is most advantageous.  Small dry flies are recommended but if the trout do not come up to the surface, you can always use small nymphs.
  • When the water is high, bigger and more ostentatious bait should be used.  The reason for this is two fold; its easy to catch the trout’s attention and bigger bait fairs better in a strong current.
  • Its best to scout the river for any areas that are not frequented by other anglers.  You can use bass boats, drift boats and jet-powered boats.
  • Those who are wade-fishing should look out for any recognizable rocks out of the water.  Use these as your markers.  If this rock disappears, it means that both turbines are running.  The Clinch river’s Water flow information is available online so please do check it out.

These are just some of the helpful tips that I’ve gathered.  Clinch River trout fishing is considered the finest in Tennessee by some anglers and some say the the best in the nation. Keep these tips in handy.

Good luck and I hope you catch yourself a big one!
