Trout bait set up method

Trout bait set up methodHere is a good trout bait set up that I found online and that I want to share with you!

This trout bait set up is known as a sliding sinker.

It is very effective for catching trout because it lets the trout catch the bait without feeling any of the weight, allowing them to trust the trap!

We all know how sensitive trout are and how easily they can spot our attempts to catch them. This is just another great tool in your arsenal.

Trout Bait Set Up Details

You are going to adjust the weight depending on the time of the year. In the summer time you are going to want to use a heavier weight 1/2oz and in the winter months you should use a lighter weight.

It is widely known that trout are closer to the shore during the winter months because the water is warmer there. Now you see why you need lighter weights in the winter.

It is essential that your get the length of the leader right.

sliding sinkerIn the summer it should be about four to five feet long, in the fall and spring it should be about 3 ft. long and it should be 2 feet long in the winter.

Again, the water conditions change so it is important that we get the bait to float around the area where the trout are swimming. I recommend that you ask park officials or the parks ranger what is the best length.

Use one-half of a worm/night-crawler and place it on a size sixteen bronze treble hook. You will want to use a worm blower to put air in the worm. Test it first to see if it floats in some water.

Alternative bait for your hook:

  • Place worm on two hooks and a marshmallow on the third hook.
  • Berkley Power bait and Sierra Gold bait are both good.
  • Salmon eggs.
  • Garlic and Velveeta cheese bait.
  • Use a plain old marshmallow.

Trout Fishing Advice Not To Forget!

The ranger is your friend! Don’t feel bad to ask him or her any questions you may have. They are a tremendous resource that you can freely use.

Ask them where is the best trout fishing spot in the area, what are the trout patterns for that area and ask them what strategies are working best for local anglers.

Don’t forget to obey the park’s rules and regulations. Stop catching trout once you have reached the permissible limit for the area that you are fishing in. Always ask the ranger if you are unsure about anything.

Please feel free to share your opinions and ideas about setting up bait in the comments section below.

Thank you and good luck with the trout.

Homemade Trout Bait Recipes This post is all about homemade trout bait recipes.

We are going to teach you some trout bait recipes that you can make at home to help you catch those elusive freshwater hound dogs.

It is really important for me to provide you guys and gals with the best trout fishing information out there.

I am always asking for trout fishing information and bait advice from my angler buddies and I am also trolling around the websites looking for great advice and tips to help you on your fishing adventures.

I’m going to cover and explain some great homemade trout bait recipes that will give you the edge you need when fishing.

Homemade Trout Bait Recipes You Can Use

First, I’m going to share a trout dough bait recipe that I found online and that works wonders. If you need a good lure then just follow the recipes and advice here.

I know that a lot of anglers out there enjoy using sophisticated jigs and spinners but with these homemade bait recipes we will be taking more of a minimalist approach; because ‘simple’ is sometimes better.

So forget about shopping for your trout supplies. Today, it’s all about creating and making your own homemade trout bait. Let’s begin:

Homemade Garlic And Cheese Trout Bait Recipe

Ingredients:

You will need one cup of cornmeal, 2 cups of water, one cup of flour, a half a cup of sugar, 1/4 pound of Velveeta cheese and 1 tablespoon of powdered garlic.

1) Put the Velveeta cheese in a plastic tuba-ware like bowl that you can microwave in – Leave the cheese in the microwave until it melts completely.

2) Start mixing the melted cheese, the powdered garlic, the sugar, the flour and cornmeal in a big bowl until it’s thoroughly mixed. The end result should be a thick heavy dough.

3) Pour a large pot with water and heat it to a rapid boil.

4) Start separating the dough and shaping the dough into small balls.

5) Individually place the small balls into the boiling water and let it cook for about two minutes.

6) Dry off your homemade trout fishing bait on some paper towels. Now you got yourself a deadly and irresistible bait that will surely attract the trout in your area.

You are going to want to tie on a treble hook and place one trout dough ball bait on it. If you want to fish in deeper areas of the stream then I recommend casting this bait with a bobber for optimal results.

Homemade Trout Bait Recipe – Feed Them Dessert

This is the last of two homemade trout bait recipes that we have today. I hope you get some real good results with the last bait recipe that I got above.

If for whatever reason the trout aren’t biting then I’d like to recommend appealing to their sweet tooth.

I must warn you however, that this homemade bait might stink up your kitchen a bit. And you will also be using a color dye in this recipe in order to attract the trout.

Ingredients:

You’re going to use food coloring of your choice, 1/4 cup of clear corn syrup, cotton balls, 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, 1/2 cup of cornmeal, one can of puréed sardines (3.75 ounces), 1/2 cup of flour, 1/4 cup Marshmallow Fluff and one cup of water.

1) Pour in the peanut butter, the food coloring, the water, and the corn syrup in a regular saucepan.

2) On medium heat you should bring the mixture to a low boil and you should stir the mixture once in a while then turn the heat down to ‘low’.

3) In a different bowl, mix the flour and cornmeal.

4) Take the bowl and slowly start dumping the cornmeal and the flour into the saucepan – All the while stirring until it’s all properly mixed together.

5) Mix the mixture at low heat until all the water has evaporated and the mixture is thick.

6) Remove the mixture from the stove and add in the marshmallow fluff and the sardines.

7) Once it has cooled, stir in the cotton balls – This will help the trout bait stick together.

Final Step: Form mixture into balls

Trout Bait Recipes The Homemade Way!

Like before, You are going to want to tie on a treble hook and place one trout dough ball bait. You will also want to cast this bait with a bobber if you want to fish in deeper areas of the stream.

Trout Fishing Frustration

Trout Fishing FrustrationThis post is dedicated to trout fishing frustration! We are not going to talk about brook trout fishing or trout fishing bait. Nothing of the sort, this post is meant to let off steam.

Has This Happened to You?

Whats wrong? I followed all the tips and pieces of advice that I could find. I read all the books available on trout fishing.

I learned from all the trout fishing experts and I watched them carefully.

But I keep catching nothing! I practiced and practiced yet nothing! I feel like blowing up the lake!

We have all been there…

I have experienced this exact situation many times. I know how it feels to come up empty handed after spending loads of time trying to get trout.

This post isn’t meant to tell you what you did wrong. This post is here to help you vent.

“Frustration creeps in little by little as time passes.”

There you are repeating an action or activity over and over again with no results. The more you try and fail the more frustrated you become.

Trout fishing got you down?

Now, I am not going to tell you about the finer points of ZEN trout fishing and how you should calm yourself.

My advice for you is to embrace what you feel because when you finally do catch the trout that you are looking for; then you can enjoy your victory even more.

Sometimes things don’t go your way ,even for the experts. I don’t care how good you are at whatever skill you can think of. There will be days that will get under your skin and there will be days where you are just pissed off.

I firmly believe that negative feeling such as frustration and anger are the dishes that success is served on.

Lets not forget that failure is a teacher and success breeds pride. We are born ready to win and succeed.

Failure ,on the other hand, is the lesson that we must learn. You can say that, failure is the evolution of victory that sharpens our skills and mind.

What do you all think? Please share your ideas and opinions about your own trout fishing frustration and how you handle it.

We would love to hear what you think are the best practices for handling negative emotions.

I would really appreciate some advice if you have time. I live in central Illinois and my only trout fishing experience was one 1 day of guided fly fishing in Colorado.

I am going to be going on a backpacking/fishing trip to Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness in southern Montana from July 29th-August 3rd. I will be using an open faced reel with Berkley Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon Professional Grade 6lb. test line.

We will be fishing small mountain lakes and streams. I was planning on ordering some “trout magnet” lures. I would love to hear any advice that you have time to give me.

What is the most effective lure type and color scheme for that region during that time frame?

Where in lakes and/or streams do trout mostly hang out?

What are good methods of fishing for trout?

What are good methods of fishing for trout? In today’s post we will be covering the question: what are good methods of fishing for trout?

I know what you’re thinking, it’s an extremely broad and general question; and I want to tell you that you’re absolutely right.

I want to have some fun with this post and list two ideas I saw online and from my own noggin – concerning some interesting ways of fishing for trout.

Oh yeah, at the end of this blog post please feel free to add in your own experiences and opinions concerning your best methods.

You’re welcome to write in anything you’d like that concerns trout fishing but I would highly appreciate it if you share your own personal way on how to catch trout fish effectively.

Two good methods of fishing for trout

Tip 1 – Cast your spinner close to the sunken rocks and logs, as you know, that’s where trout love to hide and hang out.

Try to get your spinner to move like a minnow by that I mean I want you to mimic escape with your spinner so that the trout can give chase and eventually bite.

Tip 2Catch trout with corn if it’s allowed on the lake or in the park. You can use corn by sprinkling it on the surface of the water and hopefully drawing trout out that way.

All I got to say about the corn method is don’t knock it till you try it. :-)

There you have it, some good methods of fishing for trout that you can apply as soon as you get down to the lake or other trout fishing waterhole that you are familiar with.

Also, don’t be shy and add in your two cents about trout fishing, all information is welcomed and appreciated here.

Power Bait For Trout Used Correctly

Power Bait For Trout Used CorrectlyIn this post, I will teach you how to use power bait for trout. As you know power bait comes in many different colors and it usually comes in a jar.

There are several ways you can implement these forms of bait (power bait) and techniques you can use to catch the maximum amount of trout. These tips and methods are extremely easy and can be implemented by even novice anglers.

I’m sure most of you know that trout have amazing eyesight this of course means that your fishing line can’t be too heavy!

I’m sure you understand that if your trout can see your line then there is no chance in hell that you’re catching anything.

Understandably, you can’t be using a heavy trout fishing line if you want to catch trout. Many trout anglers that I have spoken to refuse to use a line heavier than a 4 pound test.

On the other hand, some trout fishing anglers won’t use anything past a 6 pound test line when fishing for trout. I myself, wouldn’t go past 6 pounds.

Power Bait For Trout – An Easy Method

Okay, now that we understand the importance of our lines invisibility let’s move on to the actual power bait and what you should be looking for before you purchase yourself a power bait for trout.

It’s incredibly important that your power bait floats. Most of them do, but whatever the case make sure they do by asking a shop clerk or looking around online.

We want our power bait to float because we want it to float above any kind of debris that can be found in the water.

Another thing you should recognize is that power baits are most effective in still water like lakes. You should not be using power baits for trout when fishing in rivers or streams.

So make sure you employ these powerful baits next time you’re at some still water. Oh yeah, and make sure your fishing at the correct time. Pay attention to the moon and the weather to make sure that the trout are out and about when your fishing.

1. Start by adjusting the end of your line and adding an egg sinker (about one fourth to one half an ounce).

2. Next you got to tie on a small barrel swivel (size Ten or Twelve) now you got yourself a “stopper”. On the opposite side of the swivel – tie on pre-tied gang hooks, a set of them will do (about size 8 or 10). You got yourself a Power bait rig.

3. Add enough synthetic bait on to each hook so that you cover the entire hook. The end of your rod now has two power bait balls hanging at the end of it.

4. Cast the line and allow the line to sink. Carefully and slowly bring in the extra slack until the line is completely tight and taught, post your rod on any sturdy and stationary object that you can find.

5. When the rod tip begins bouncing you know that you got yourself a trout on the line.

Extra Trout Fishing Tips: if nothing bites within 45 minutes then reel in your line and repeat the process at another spot of the lake.

These techniques that incorporate power bait for Trout are here for you to use and more importantly they work. Try them out next time your fishing on your favorite lake.

Good luck and catch something nice!

How To Tie Gang Hooks For Trout

How To Tie Gang Hooks For TroutIn this short blurb we are going to learn how to tie gang hooks for trout; or more appropriately, how to “create” a trout fishing gang hook.

Any angler worth his salt knows how to prepare a gang hook. Why? Well because trout anglers around the world only have good things to say when it comes to the effectiveness of gang hooks.

Gang hooks are great and most effective when used in areas that have lots of water plants, tree debris in the water and other kinds of float-ties.

These hooks are unlikely to get caught on debris or get snagged up on something while in the water because of its unique design and form.

How to tie a gang hook for trout the right way

Tie a snell knot (simple to learn snell knot animation) with a size 10 single hook on to a leader; make sure you leave a minimum 12″ tag end.

You will then have to tie the secondary hook about two to three inches under the first one you created ,this of course depends on the size of the worm you are are working with. You will finally clip the tag end and you are all done.

If you are looking to create a longer line you can easily do that by adding more hooks on to the leader directly underneath each other (don’t worry about creating space between them).

However, if for some reason your worm is not of size or not long enough to complete the line, you can always opt to create a small power-bait ball to hide any hooks that remain.

Make sure that you attach your gang hooks to a swivel. Some folks prefer to add/slip weights above the swivel and others like to add a bobber, that’s up to you and the conditions you will be fishing in. Anyways, you are good to go!

Congrats! You now know how to tie a gang hook for trout fishing, good luck on your fishing trip and I hope you catch a big one. Take care and be well. Remember to observe park rules when trout fishing.
